EDUCATION
February 2007
Docent in Geophysics, with specialization in Solid Earth Physics, at Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden
June 1998
Ph.D. in Geophysics from Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden, with the thesis "Seismic Tomography: Inversion of P- and S-Wave Velocities"
January 1992
Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden
June 1986
Studentexamen (Naturvetenskaplig linje) from Västerviks Gymnasium, Västervik, Sweden
RESEARCH AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Jun 2002 -
Jan 2007
Assistant professor in applied geophysics at Uppsala University. Research interests involve interpretation and analysis of geophysical airborne measurements with application to mineralizations in Swedish ore provinces.
Aug 2000 -
May 2002
Swedish Geological Survey: Radiometric data processing and interpretation. Development of GIS processing and visualization tools for airborne geophysical data.
Aug 1998 -
Jul 2000
Post Doctoral fellow at the CSIC institute "Jaume Almera" in Barcelona, Spain. Research topics involved reflection seismic processing and interpretation of the URSEIS95 data, and supervising students in high-resolution seismic tomography.
Mentor: Prof. Andrés Perez-Estaún
Sep 1995 -
Jun 1996
10 months at the U. S. Geological Survey in Denver working with a finite difference application of local earthquake travel time tomography. The three-dimensional velocity structure below the Long Valley Caldera, California, was modeled, and the algorithm developed to simultaneously invert for both the P- and S-waves velocities.
Mentor: Prof. Harley M. Benz
Apr 1992 -
Jun 1998
Graduate student in Geophysics at the Department of Earth Sciences, Section Solid Earth Physics, Uppsala University, Sweden. Areas of special interest were crustal seismology and earthquake tomography. Research Assistant in applied refraction and reflection seismology.
Supervisor: Prof. Laust B. Pedersen
Fall 1991
Analysis of explosion recordings at the SIL (South Iceland Lowland) seismic network. Phase identification of large-offset recordings at permanent 3-component recording stations. Forward and inverse modeling of the deep crustal structure.
Supervisor: Prof. Ragnar S. Slunga
SPECIAL AWARDS
Fall 1994
Thuns resestipendium - a traveling scholarship from Uppsala University, for studying seismic tomography methods at the U. S. Geological Survey in Denver, USA.
FIELD EXPERIENCE
Nov 2000
Quality control of the reflection seismic data acquisition and processing in a project by Sydkraft AB, Malmö, Sweden.
Oct 1996 -
Mar 1997
Deployment and maintenance of ORION seismic stations in south Sweden during the TOR Teleseismic experiment.
Jan 1994 -
Mar 1994
Participated in the marine geophysical expedition ANT XI-3 to West Antarctica organized by the Alfred-Wegner Institute for polar and marine research in Germany.
Summer 1993
Seismic CMP explosion data acquisition in the Ural Mountains.
Mar 1993
Recorded wide angle air gun data with REFTEK equipment on the west coast of Denmark, the MONALISA project.
Summer 1992
Seismic CMP and wide-angle vibroseis data acquisition in the Swedish Caledonides.
COMPUER SKILLS
C, C++, Fortran, Pascal, Unix, ARC-Info, GMT, FOCUS, PROMAX, OASIS Montage
LANGUAGES
