Geophysics - earthquake seismology

eqseism.gif (12904 bytes)

The Uppsala earthquake seismology group conducts earthquake research in a number of different fields such as large- and microearthquake source studies, local earthquake tomography and earthquake fault mapping, seismicity studies and seismic hazard assessment. We have research interests in many parts of the world, e.g. Sweden, Iceland, Turkey, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Guatemala and Ethiopia. The seismology group also runs the Swedish national seismological network, which is used for monitoring both local and regional events within Scandinavia and Northern Europe and teleseismic events. Observed events are reported in weekly and monthly bulletins.
